  • White pillar candles, as many as you want to make and may be an extra just for ”in case“
  • ¼ Inch hole punch
  • A small flower shaped cookie cutter (or any shape you want to make your decorations)
  • A this sheet of candle wax in assorted colors, one of the colors must be black (you’ll get these at crafts stores)

Now this is how you go about doing this easy mother’s day craft for kids:


  1. Start by making a clean work space to work on.
  2. Place one of your wax sheets onto your working surface.
  3. Create your flowers by pressing into your wax with your cookie cutter to make a flower.
  4. Now you have to carefully press the flower our of your cookie cutter by using your finger.
  5. Repeat this step with the same and with all the other colors until you have enough flowers or other decorations for all the candles you want to make.
  6. Us your finger to press the flowers onto your candles. The warmth from your finger will make the flower stick to the candle.
  7. By using your hole punch you have to punch one small black circle from black wax to make a center for each flower (if you are making other decorations this may not be necessary, use your imagination.)
  8. Now press the black circles onto the center of your flowers to form the heart of the flowers.
  9. Repeat these steps until you have decorated all your candles.
