Getting Your Ex Boyfriend Back – The Basics
Sunday, September 4th, 2011The relationship went boom. Maybe with a fizzle, maybe with a whimper, maybe with a slammed doorbut it went. And now you’re chasing your own self esteem through the crannies of your mind, wondering “What can I do to get him back?”
You find yourself calling. Or IMing, or text messaging. You wonder if he thinks about you at all, and then you start to pity yourself. Maybe you want to make him feel sorry for you, or to take you back and make it all right. Maybe some desperate part of you wishes it would all magically get better, or wishes there were something you could do to bring him back.
Well, stop it. You deserve better than that. If you’re obsessing about getting him back, we’ve got news for you. It ain’t gonna happen. He dumped your sorry butt for a reason, and being mopey about it isn’t going to fix the problem. For that matter, trying to make him pity you is the single best way to make sure that he leaves your life, at high speed, and never ever looks back.
So focus on the things that work.
OK, what you’re doing right now? It’s called projecting. And it isn’t helping. He’s going to read that hurt and that pity party in your head in the set of your shoulders, the look in your eyes, or, more than likely by the way you call him twice a day and bawl at him, IM him, or try to make him feel sorry for you. The only one feeling sorry for you is you, and until you stop, he isn’t going to want to be with you.
By doing this, you should spark a change of heart in your ex. Now that he’s not fending off your attempts to me miss hyper-clingy pity party, he’s going to wonder how you’re doing. (And if he doesn’t, you’re better off without him.) He may, in fact, miss you a bit if you do this.
While you’re at it, get his phone number off your cell, don’t read his LiveJournal or Facebook profile, don’t look into his life. Focus on yours. Learn to cook. Knit a sweater, Volunteer at your local homeless shelter or library. Take up rock climbing or, hell, Dungeons and Dragons. Do things that interest youand when he doesn’t hear from you, let the burden be on him to ask what the hell is going on.
The other bit of a strategy is to be mysterious. If he left you because the relationship had gotten stale, a bit of mystery can be a godsend. He’ll want to know how to get back into your life and the fun times you’re having. Now, this isn’t quite playing hard to get – this is reminding him that he’s the one missing out for not hanging out with you.and it’s the surefire answer to the question “What can I do to get my ex boyfriend back?”
